What is sustainable architecture? Sustainability in Architecture does not only consist in applying new technologies. Design is the real solution. An analysis of the unique location and exposition of the building including the available views, the noise sources, the winds direction, taking in account all advantages and constrains. This is the only way to achieve an optimal dialogue with the immediate and less immediate context of the building.
I was trained as an Architect and have a background in visual arts. I also received a Masters of Science of Sustainable and Environmental Design.
I started my career in Los Angeles working on large scaled mixed-use projects with complex programs including pedestrian and vehicular circulation. Key objective was to optimize the number of apartment units and parking spaces built. During that period, I gained knowledge of building code, experience in construction permit applications and administrative processes, as well as conceptual schemes for feasibility studies. I contributed schematic design, preliminary layout plans, and architectural drawings.
I subsequently moved to France and joined the team of a Paris-based American architect focusing on remodeling private luxurious residences on the French Riviera. Among other things, projects included the design and manufacturing of bespoke furniture pieces. That time around, working throughout the entire project life from first sketches to completion, I gained technical knowledge in construction and experience in work site supervision.
Later on, as I was living in Hong Kong, I collaborated with an architectural firm specialized in interior design and major renovations of hotels, serviced apartments and luxury residences.
Having now returned to Southern California, I am working independently, assisting in the renovation of private residences. I study and develop as many options as possible for my clients with the ultimate objective to deliver them the best design.
